Her theatrical roles have been as varied as her audiences and have included: Reno Sweeney in “Anything Goes”; Lady Tiang in “The King & I”; Aldonza in “Manof La Mancha”; Anita in “West Side Story”; and Mercedes in the Opera “Carmen” to name but a very few; and Joy was recently in Washington, D.C. at Arena Stage delighting audiences with her portrayal of the vivacious character Wanda, in the Regina Taylor play “Crowns”.
OnBroadway, Joy was in the casts of the revival of “The Music Man” (playing her own part and covering three principle roles); the world premier of “Marie Christine” in the role of “Beatrice” (and covering two principle roles) and before that, the first national Broadway tour productions of “Ragtime” (covering “Sarah’s Friend”) and “Show Boat” (covering “Queenie”).
Now, after playing the role of “Power Woman”, which Joy created more than four years ago, for the Off-Broadway hit, “Menopause the Musical”, the legions of fans it has brought hope and happiness to were saddened to see it come to a close.
New commercial representation with Don Buchwald and Associates is bringing wonderful things her way, including a photo shoot for the Las Vegas Tourism Bureau and there are numerous concert dates, including “I Hate Music – the Songs and Music of GlenRoven” are in the works! So stay tuned!
